Tungsten Electrodes can be fabricated with any style point from full radius down to 1 micron diameter
ST Probe Tips (solid tungsten) have a .020" (.5mm) tungsten shank which is etched and polished to a sharp point. Points can be made as sharp as 0.2 micron radius or rounded such as 25 microns radius. Shown in this photo is a long taper with a 0.5 micron point.
ST probe tips can be supplied with a bend. This photo shows a 1/4 inch bend at 45 degrees.
Cat Whisker Probes (fine wire tip)have a .020" (.5mm) stainless steel shank and a small diameter tungsten tip. The tip wire diameter can be .001", .003", .005". The tungsten tip is etched and polished to a very sharp point. Sharpest points have a 0.1 micron radius.
Solid Tungsten Probe Tips are designated with the prefix ST- and followed by the point radius. Standard length is 1" but 1.4" and 0.5" as well as special lengths are available.
ST-2 0.2 micron point radius
ST-5 0.5 "
ST-10 1 "
ST-20 2 "
ST-50 5 "
ST-100 10 "
ST-200 20 "
Cat Whisker Probe Tips are designated FWT- for "Fine Wire Tip" and followed by the tip wire diameter and the point radius. The standard length is 1.4"
FWT-1-1 .001" tip wire, 0.1 micron point radius
FWT-1-5 " 0.5 "
FWT-1-10 " 1 "
FWT-1-50 " 5 "
FWT-3-1 .003" tip wire 0.1 "
FWT-3-3 " 0.3 "
FWT-3-5 " 0.5 "
FWT-3-10 " 1 "
FWT-5-1 .005" tip wire 0.1 "
FWT-5-5 " 0.5 "
FWT-5-10 " 1 "
Microtools come in four basic styles.
Chisel bottom left, Hook top left, Probe top middle, and Fork top right. These hand tools come mounted on a handle, shown bottom right.
The size scale is: The chisel is about .020" (0.5mm) wide. Hooks have a bend of about .005". Probe points are rounded enough for hand use, typically .002" or .003" point diameter but can be made to requirements. The Fork has two parallel .005" tungsten wires with a small separation.
Fine point dissecting probes have a point diameter of about 0.5 microns and a 5 degree taper. The .020" diameter shank fits into the handle shown below.
Dissecting blade have a sharp rounded edge about .012"(0.3mm) diameter. They also fit the handle. The blade is made of tungsten.
Tungsten hook has a .005" bend with a 90 or 120 degree bend. The .020" shank fits the handle.
The anodized aluminum handle is .25" in diameter and 4.5" long. It holds the .020" shanked tools by inserting them into a friction closure.
Stainless steel punch tubes have a very sharp edge etched and polished around the end. They can be made from all diameters of hypo tubing. The smallest tubes are .006" diameter, the largest about .25". Punches made from .020" tubing will fit the above handle. Other sizes of punches can be held in our special mounts, specific to size, or a pin vice.
